A Night Out Look! (Hair, Makeup & Outfit)

Hi beautiful! Been working on another video and it's finally up :) This one is a completed look, showing you a makeup, hair and outfit idea that you could wear for an upcoming night out. The hair and makeup alone can of course, also look pretty during the day if you're feeling extra fab.

I love the "Chopper" eyeshadow from the Naked 2 palette that I used, it's one of my all time favs! You can also use it wet by dampening the brush before applying it to your lid for an extra metallic look. The lipstick I'm wearing is the one by Lancome which, if you're familiar with my blog by now, you probably already know about :) The texture of this lipstick is really nice and I adore the color! Anyway I hope that you guys enjoy the video! Let me know what you think in the comments :) XOXO

Love doing buns like this! They're great for when you're hair is feeling a bit greasy or if it's just not having a good day!
You can whip one of these buns up in a few minutes :)

DIY Honey Face Mask! ♥

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend :) Just uploaded a new video talking to you about my favorite natural face mask using raw honey! Honey is very powerful as it contains lots of great enzymes, vitamins and anti septic properties that are great for the skin. It's also amazing to, of course, eat honey as well, but I unfortunately still haven't found a love for the taste! Maybe one day :) But for now, I apply it directly to my face and it does wonders!

This jar of honey I use is called "Really Raw Honey" and it's about $10 for 1lb! It lasts me a good six months, so it's really inexpensive and works just as good as the high-end face masks (possibly even better) and you don't have to worry about harsh chemicals, fragrances and irritants.

It's important to use raw honey in particular because that means it hasn't been heated or processed, so it still contains all its essential nutrients and enzymes (which are usually destroyed otherwise when heated and processed).

Summary of a few of the benefits of raw honey for the skin:
- It has antimicrobial and antiseptic properties (great for healing cuts and burns and killing bacteria)
- It's packed with nutrients and minerlas such as vitamin B, iron, calcium...
- It contains gluconic acid, a mild alpha hydroxy acid which brightens the complexion
- It has a pH level of 4.5 so it falls within the skin's natural healthy range
- When mixed with water, it releases peroxide properties which helps heal acne and prevent bacterial growth
- It acts as a humectant, drawing moisture into the skin

Raw honey can also be used as a face cleanser for those of you looking for a natural alternative. (Just apply a teaspoon of honey to your finger tips and use as a regular cleanser onto damp skin.)

The best thing is that it's both exfoliating and moisturizing! Been doing this for years and I definitely recommend it if you haven't tried it out yet! What are some of your favorite DIY face masks? Share with me below! XOXO

Soft Smokey Eye Tutorial ♥ (Good for Beginners!)

Hello beautiful! Happy monday :) It's such a gorgeous day here in New York - absolutely freezing but clear blue skies and bright sunshine! Just finished editing and uploading my new video where I show you how to do my favorite soft smokey eye. I think it's one of the only makeup videos I've done without using liquid liner :) Using a pencil (like shown in the video) gives a much softer finish to the eyes, whereas the liquid will really give a defined look - I like both :) Anyway I hope you guys enjoy this video! As always, feel free to leave your requests in the comments :) XOXO

A Perfect Brick

Hi beautiful! Hope you're having a nice weekend :) Filmed a video yesterday on this smokey eye I've recently been wearing out in the evenings, but using my new Smoked palette from Urban Decay. If you're familiar with my style, you'll know I love love love makeup, but to the point where it helps accentuate your features. The smokiness of this look below is just the right amount of black and brown for me :) If you like a heavier eye, you can of course use the same technique but apply the products with a heavier hand until you're satisfied :) It should be up in the next few days!

Video for this soft sultry smokey eye will be up next!

Today I spent a good couple of hours catching up on all my YouTube subscriptions (in bed with a hot water bottle on my tummy, ah mother nature). Felt like I hadn't watched any in weeks! Came across this quote below when I watched Makeup to Breakups on The Platform and loved it :) It lingered in my head and thought I'd share it with you guys,

"You don't set out to build a wall. You don't say 'I'm going to build the biggest,
baddest, greatest wall that's ever been built.' You don't start there. You say,
"I'm going to lay this brick as perfectly as a brick can be laid." You do that every single day.
And soon you have a wall."

- Will Smith

This quote can apply to so many areas of life - work, health, happiness, love. Whatever you do, do it well and know that anything worth accomplishing, cannot be accomplished in one go. Put effort into the small things, as it's these things that build your foundation for success. Definitely one of my favorite quotes!

Chunky Gold Necklace

Hi everyone! Really happy you guys found my last video helpful :) I love watching makeup / vanity tours on YouTube - they make me want to go through all my makeup products and organize everything. The key is to make it look the best it can in your space and making the most of what you have. My apartment is really old and it's unfortunately never been renovated so even though it has lots of "character" (lol) it's a pain in the butt to make it look crisp and clean. Adding flowers, frames and candles to distract the eye from the old window frames and chipping paint helps! The next place I move into will hopefully be brand spanking new! "Character" will not be on list of credentials :)

Anyway, wanted to give you a closer look at the necklace I was wearing in the video. It was love at first sight with this one! I got it from H&M for $14.95 just a couple of days ago, I think it could totally pass for designer. It feels really good (and expensive) too - it has a nice weight to it. You can wear a necklace like this with anything to instantly glam it up and the chunkiness of it gives any outfit a little edge. Happy girl!

Desk & Makeup Tour!

Hello beautiful! I have a new video up! :) Here I show you around my desk & makeup area, and I also show you I organize my makeup products. I didn't go too much into detail on the specific products because I think that would've made the video really long (and not sure if you guys are interested in knowing all of that anyways!). But hopefully this will give you a good overview & some organizational tips! I will still probably keep changing things up, knowing myself, but I am pretty happy with the way it looks now, clean, organized and pretty.

I remember when I used to just have a little makeup bag in my bathroom which probably only contained about 10 items. Slowly the collection grew and it "moved out" from the bathroom and into the main living space :) I love love love makeup, so it's fun to have this space now. Anyway I hope you enjoy the video my loves! Links are below XOXO

Statement Earrings

A few weeks ago, I bought these gorgeous clip-on earrings which I've been wearing a lot recently. Love the chunky colorful stone. Think they could pass for vintage :) I purchased these from H&M for just a few dollars, and it makes me so happy when I find little gems like this in places like H&M and F21 that look a lot more expensive than they are. Studded earrings like these are my favorite kind to wear because they elongate your neck and draw attention to your face - gives it a little sparkle :) And for those of you wondering, the lipstick I'm wearing is L'Absolu Crème de Mat Lipstick by Lancome in shade #300 (Magie Pourpre).

I recenetly upgraded my earring display / storage by keeping them in this clear acrylic box with little compartments in it. I like that it has a hinged-lid to keep dust away, and I could also place something on top of it if I wanted. I purchased this from the Container Store for $8.99 (link below) and I love it! My earrings were sort of all over the place before, so now their nice and organized :)

Best Dressed

Did you guys watch the Grammys two nights ago? I love seeing all the fashion. Some ladies were dressed beautifully! I loved Kelly Rowland's black peek-a-boo dress and Katy Perry looked so gorgeous in her fitted Gucci dress. But my favorite would have to go to Rihanna. She wore a custom Azzedine Alaïa chiffon dress in this gorgeous red color, almost identical to the red carpet. She looks a lot softer and chic than what we're used to seeing, so it's nice that she switched it up. I love the train and the sheerness of the dress and her flowly hair keeps the look young. My favorite part of the show must have been Justin Timberlake's performance, so good! You have to YouTube it if you missed the show. Who was your best dressed?

New Makeup Goodies

Good morning lovelies! Hope everyone is having a good weekend :) Been cleaning out and organizing everything in my wardrobe to make room for some new things I purchased whilst in London - which I will show you in an upcoming haul. Am so happy with everything I bought! I also strangely love getting rid of things I don't wear anymore. I prefer quality over quantity - and I just give the things I don't need anymore to charity.

I also received an amazing present from the wonderful crew at The Platform, which is a channel under the network I am part of. They have great fashion & beauty videos which are really fun to watch - and is the home of the fabulous P'Trique, whom you might have seen on America's Next Top Model. They really outdid themselves with this package. It includes some amazing products from Urban Decay, NARS, Benefit and even YSL. To say I was excited would be an understatement lol :)

It came in this gorgeous lilac makeup bag in a big gold box wrapped in ribbon

Josie Maran BearNaked Wipes - These look so good. They're free or harsh ingredients & contain Argan oil which I love! They also donate a portion of every package sold to the NRDC's Polar Bear SOS initiative :)
Benefit POREfessional Primer - I've heard so many great things about this primer, can't wait to try!
Ciate Velvet Manicure - A new concept for your nails. I personally like a really glossy manicure, but could be cute as an accent nail.
Ojon Dry Cleansing Spray - I love dry shampoo's for touch ups between washes. They're also great for adding volume to your roots.
Tony & Guy Hairdresser - A complimentary cut & color at their hairdressing academy :) Might use it in the spring time to lightly ombre my hair again.
TOCCA "Love Yourself" Fragrance Collection - 6 little mini samples which all smell really fresh. Will be nice for keeping in your purse - always got to smell nice ladies :)
NARS "Foreplay" Cheek Palette - So gorgeous! It has a matte peach and pink blush, a highlighter and their signature blush in "Orgasm".
Benefit Moon Beam Highlighter - I love a touch of highlighter, it really brightens up your face. This one has a slight yellow undertone (compared to their "High Beam" one) so it compliments my skin tone better. It will be super pretty to wear in the summer time with a nice tan.

Diorshow Extase Mascara  - Dior is known for their mascaras so I'm excited to try this - although it's hard beating my HG Clinique one! But let's see :) Checked the reviews online and it's been highly rated.
Urban Decay "Smoked" Palette - I've had my eye on this palette for a while so I was so happy when I saw it in the bag! It has 6 metallic shades and 4 matte.
Origins GinZing Mascara - This mascara has a very gentle formula, so it could be nice to wear on days when my eyelashes need a bit of a detox :)
Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in "Zero" - These are always great to have when creating a sultry eye - plus these pencils in particular are highly raved about and recommended! Excited to try.
Urban Decay Mini Primer Potion - This came with the eyeshadow palette. A must for preventing eyeshadows from creasing.
MAC 282SE Duo Fiber Shader Brush - This brush will be good for applying a neutral wash of color all over the lid due to it's size. It could also be use for applying under-eye concealer.

Close up of Urban Decay's "Smoked" Eyeshadow Palette. Such gorgeous shades! Can't wait to play around with them.

Buxom Lipgloss in "Dani" - I don't own any Buxom lip glosses so I'm excited to try this. I love the pink / lilac shade and think it could look nice with a simple winged eyeliner.
YSL Lipstick # 17 - You must know how in love I am with these lipsticks! The packaging alone is like a little piece of jewelry :) It's going on display right next to my other one on my nail polish rack.
Dior Addict Lip Glow - A super high end lip balm! I love :)
NARS Lipstick "Belle de Jour" - A perfect shade of nude to go with a smokey eye. The consistency is also quite moisturizing which is great for these colder months.

I am so excited to try all these new products! Thank you so much to lovely team at The Platform for sending out these goodies!! You guys are amazing. I am so lucky :) If there's a product you guys would like a more in-depth review on, let me know in the comments below :) XOXO

Quinoa & Veggie Dinner

This is what I made for dinner today.  It's really quick & easy to prepare and of course super healthy ;)

As I am sure you beauty-smarties know, food has such a big impact on our bodies and on our looks. Glowing skin, healthy hair, strong nails and bones are derived from healthy food choices. It's so good to include fruit and veggies in your diet and of course lots of water. If you take care of your body, it will take care of you. All the ingredient used to make this are cancer fighting, and oh-so-good for your body. Here's a little breakdown:

This is an ancient power food and/or "super grain". It's a great source of protein and it is a healthy gluten-free carbohydrate, so it will give you energy.

Tomatoes are great for your skin in particular because they contain a lot of vitamin C and they are packed with powerful antioxidants to help keep your body healthy. They also contain a lot of vitamin A and K which are also good for your eyes and hair. I sometimes just slice up a tomato if I want something healthy to snack on.

A really healthy fat containing a lot of vitamin E, which is great for your skin and hair.

I love the crunchiness of celery, especially combined with softer foods like avocado and tomato. Celery is great for reducing inflammation and water weight in the body. It also has a lot of antioxidants and is rich in fiber.

And you can of course add chicken or turkey breast for extra protein and/or any other veggie you'd like, such as cucumber, bell peppers, sweet potato etc.

Preparation: Cook quinoa in chicken stock (organic, low sodium, as natural as possible) or water, for about 15-20 mins. Slice up tomato, avocado, celery (or any other veggie), and add to the cooked quinoa, et voila :)

I always make a little extra to keep for the next couple of days. This requires minimal effort :) so it's a super easy dish to whip together if you want something healthy to eat or just to snack on.

Back Home!

Hello beautiful! I made it back to New York, just in time before the big snow storm. Everyone is saying it's going to be pretty bad, lasting for about 2 days but so far it's just been really windy with some snowfall. Looking forward to seeing the city all white tomorrow morning :) Anyway I am so happy to be back in the city! I walked into my apartment with a big old grin on my face :) Soaking up this space which is all mine! I started cleaning right away, dusting, vacuuming, wiping off the counter tops etc. It's crazy how much dust gets in through the windows here in NYC. Just one of those things you have to get used to living here :) As much as I hate cleaning, I crazily love it. I love the end result, let's put it that way :) I then went to buy some groceries, had my nails done - which feels so nice! - and picked up a few things from the pharmacy. Got home, lit some candles and just unpacked and organized my things. About to hop into the shower and get cozied up in bed. Couldn't ask for anything more :)

Fun times with my cousin/sister-from-other parents, Skeena, who will be here visiting in a few weeks! Can't wait :)
