At the Beach... Almost!

One of the best things about going to the beach is the salt water. It always clears my skin up and leaves it smooth and soft.

My skin recently started breaking out really bad. The reason? Nutella and too much dairy! Because I usually don’t eat chocolate and a lot of dairy in New York (I'm currently at home in Geneva), my body totally reacted to it.

I always break out when I eat chocolate so that was not a huge surprise. But recently I found out that dairy products (milk, ice cream, cheese, yoghurt) can really affect your hormones, causing sudden skin breakouts, increased perspiration, mood swings etc...

I decided to try a sea salt mask, and it worked wonders!! My skin feels like its been on a vacation

I miss the beach! This photo was taken a couple years ago. (Bikini is from Forever 21)

Benefits of Sea Salt:
  • Detoxifier = it removes toxins from the skin
  • Gentle exfoliator
  • Powerful antiseptic = kills germs
  • High in minerals
  • Best of all, its 100% natural & inexpensive

Sea Salt Mask
  1. Add sea salt to distilled warm water (using either filtered or boiled water to remove impurities)
  2. For an extra boost, add a few drops of lemon juice
  3. Soak up the mixture with a cotton pad, and gently pat on to face
  4. Leave for 10 – 30 mins
  5. Rinse with warm water and pat dry

Sea Salt Scrub
  1. Mix raw honey and sea salt
  2. Gently apply to face in circular motions (this will boost circulation and remove dead skin cells)
  3. Leave for 10 – 40 mins
  4. Rinse with warm water and pat dry

If you suffer from acne on your body, like on your back for example, make a bath and add sea salt to it. Soak and unwind in the bath for about 15 mins. Many people say this cleared their acne within a few days.

My skin has totally cleared up in just three days of doing this! (I've also laid off dairy and chocolate.) It’s practically free and this will be good for all skin types :)

Let me know if you've tried this before & good luck! ♥

xoxo

  1. Wow thank you for this post! I had cereal this week and ended up with a breakout the next day!! It must have been the milk! I'm going to buy some sea salt! I love your tip on honey though - it really helped my skin! Mixing honey and cinammon is also beneficial.

I love your tips! You're my favourite xx

  5. Hey Annie. I remember watching your videos about how you lost weight. i was wondering if you have and stretch marks from that and if you do, what do you do about them?

  6. I've always been a fan of home-made face masks ... usually because things in them are organic. I'm definitely trying this one tonight!

  8. Hello Annie,

Most likely the reason why your skin reacted that way to dairy products is that you may be extra sensitve to dairy products that contain artificial hormones and steroids. Those ingredients have been linked to skin break outs. Once I discovered that those ingredients affected my skin I switched to 100% certified organic dairy products like Stoneyfield Farms and Eggland's Best eggs and never had that issue again. You don't have to give up the nutrients that dairy products provide, you just have to be careful about how they are produced. I hope this helps and you are an inspiration for me starting a new healthy lifestyle.
